Our Core Team

Jonathon Martin BA (hons), M.Soc.Sc, cert. TEFL

Jonathon has worked in language services in Finland for nearly 10 years, most recently as an English Lecturer at the University of Helsinki, where he is still involved part-time. Earlier he was a trainer in many of Finland's top companies. In addition to language training, he has extensive experience editing academic and business articles and theses, and copywriting.

Richard Penny BA (hons)

Richard specialises in the field of speech and presentational training. He honed his communication skills in competitive debating; a field in which he rose to become Baltic Debating Champion in 2006. He has worked extensively in Finland with both business and private clients helping them to speak English confidently and persuasively.

Laura Ojanen BA (Hons), M.Soc.Sc

Laura is an English-language lecturer and translator. She has completed university degrees from both York University in Toronto, Canada and the University of Helsinki. She has several years of experience in language training for professionals and currently works as a senior lecturer at HAMK University of Applied Sciences. She is fluent in Finnish and English and specializes in academic and business sector translations.

Søren Berg Rasmussen B.Soc.Sc

Søren, our Nordic Operations Director, is a translator with more than five years experience translating into and out of his native Danish language as well as the other Scandinavian languages. He specialises in technical translations ranging from slaughterhouse machines to furniture catalogues.

Francis McCarron BA, M.Soc.Sc

Francis is fully-bilingual with an Irish father and a Finnish mother. He also studied first in Derry, Ireland and then at Helsinki University, rounding off his natural gifts with formal education. He specialises in business communication and negotiation tactics, which is why he also heads our sales team.
